A commercial locksmith installs, services, and maintains the locks, keys, door hardware, and access systems that secure businesses, institutions, and government facilities. Unlike a residential locksmith, a commercial locksmith works with grade-1 hardware, master key systems, panic and exit devices, electrified locks, and access control — and is expected to understand fire code, ADA egress requirements, and life-safety standards.
A-1 Locksmith & Security Center has provided commercial locksmith services across the Phoenix metro since 1975. We are a veteran-owned, licensed, bonded, and insured security contractor serving businesses, property managers, healthcare facilities, schools, and municipalities throughout Tempe, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, and the surrounding Valley. From a single rekey to a multi-building master key system or access control integration, our work is documented, code-compliant, and built to last.
Serving Phoenix metro commercial clients since 1975 — licensed ROC #262872 & #351865.

Commercial Locksmith Services We Provide
Master Key Systems
Custom-designed keying hierarchies that give building owners and property managers layered access control — a grand master key, departmental sub-masters, and individual change keys — using restricted, patented keyways that prevent unauthorized duplication.
Commercial Rekeying
Rekeying changes the pins inside existing locks so old keys no longer work — faster and more cost-effective than replacing hardware after tenant turnover, employee departures, or lost keys.
High-Security Locks
As an authorized Medeco dealer, A-1 installs high-security cylinders with key control, pick resistance, and drill protection for facilities that require a higher standard than standard commercial locks.
Commercial Door Hardware
Installation and repair of grade-1 levers, deadbolts, closers, and complete door hardware sets from Schlage, ASSA ABLOY, and LCN — specified for traffic volume, code, and durability.
Panic Hardware & Exit Devices
Code-required exit devices, crash bars, and panic hardware from Von Duprin, Sargent, and Falcon — installed and serviced to meet IBC, fire marshal, and ADA egress requirements.
Electric Strikes & Electrified Hardware
The electrified components that connect mechanical doors to access control — electric strikes, mag locks, and request-to-exit devices, integrated to fire and life-safety code.
ADA Automatic Door Operators
Automatic door operators and ADA-compliant push-button systems that keep commercial entrances accessible and code-compliant under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Commercial Safes
Sales, service, delivery, and combination changes for depository, fire-rated, and record safes for retail, medical, and professional offices.
Emergency Commercial Lockout
Fast response when a business is locked out — entry without unnecessary damage, plus rekeying or repair on the spot when needed.
Access Control Integration
Where keys are no longer enough, A-1 designs and installs cloud-based and hardwired access control — credential management, audit logs, and remote lock/unlock for one door or an entire campus.
Commercial Locksmith vs. Residential Locksmith: What’s the Difference?
A commercial locksmith and a residential locksmith are not interchangeable. The difference comes down to hardware grade, code knowledge, and system complexity:
- Hardware grade: Commercial work uses ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 hardware built for high-traffic, high-cycle use. Residential hardware is typically Grade 2 or 3.
- Code compliance: Commercial doors must meet fire code, ADA egress, and life-safety standards. A miswired electric strike or non-compliant exit device can fail an inspection or endanger occupants.
- System scale: Commercial facilities use master key systems and access control across many doors and users; homes rarely do.
- Documentation & key control: Commercial clients need restricted keyways, key control records, and audit trails. A-1 maintains these over the life of the system.
A-1 handles both, but our core expertise is commercial, institutional, and government security — and we staff and stock accordingly.
